School Pride

Georgia Southern University is the best university E V E R! I have been a full-time undergrad student at GSU for 3 years now. I have had many positive experiences at GSU! I have met forever friends and found independence. I now know what I am passionate about and what I want to do with my life in the future. I aspire to be a nurse practicioner.

GSU has plenty of organizations open for students to join. No matter one's race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or age there is a place for EVERYONE. You do not feel alone at GSU. Personally, ONE of the organizations i am involved with is a community service sorority. It is a diverse sorority with members from MANY different walks of life. I didn't have that experience when I was in high school. We all share the common goal of just wanting to provide service to the university, community, and other areas of the country. I used to only be friends with those who were like me. Coming to GSU changed that.. and I am HAPPY that it did!I have a lot in common with people who seemed they would be completely opposite from who I am. I must say these experiences have actually molded me into who I am today. GSU helped me find myself. I have adopted values and obtained skills that I couldn't imagine getting at any other university. I can work with and love people who are DIFFERENT than I am and being a nurse that is extremely important.

My forever friends are AWESOME! Coming into college, you DONT have friends. I didn't know anyone. My roommate, Nikeya, turned out to be one of my forever friends. I know that we will continue our friendship beyond college years. Another friend that is on the forever friends list is Gabrielle. I         L O V E her from the bottom of my HEART! She has been my friend since Freshman year and through social and academic changes, parties, stressful assignments, bad relationships, our friendship has SUSTAINED! FOREVER FRIENDS are important to me. I hate to think that if I never came to Southern I would have never met the two people that I mentioned above. Sure I have friends from back home, but these girls HAVE been in my shoes. They know the ropes of GSU and how it is to be a student HERE. I have gained patience and understanding which will be useful in forming long-lasting relationships with people or patients in the future. I REALLY DO LOVE THEM :)

Enough of the SAPPY stuff: *wipes away tear*

Im a woman now. I have gained my INDEPENDENCE. I can thank GSU for that. I know the type of student that I am and the type of person that I am, in general. I am not afraid to go out into the REAL WORLD. I am well-prepared. Professors have given me the tools to succeed. GSU has given me the idea that YOU CAN BEAT THE ODDS and DO ANYTHING you want in life, and I am looking forward to being in the healthcare field and becoming a nurse.
